Connect Koma to ChatGPT & Codex

ChatGPT sees what's due, adds what you mention, and knows what's next.

In ChatGPT

An official Koma app for ChatGPT is on its way. The steps below connect it today.

ChatGPT connects a custom MCP server through Developer mode, on Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts on the web; a Business, Enterprise or Education workspace can turn it off or limit it.

  1. Open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. On the web, open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins), press the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Koma, give it a short description, enter the server address https://koma.ac/api-preview/mcp, keep OAuth, accept the notice ("I understand and want to continue"), press Create as a plugin and sign in to Koma when asked. It then sits under Installed.
  3. Use it in a Work chat: on the ChatGPT home switch the tab from Chat to Work, type @ and pick Koma, then ask. A chat keeps the tool list it started with, so start a new one after installing.

Add it on the web, not in the desktop app. The desktop app's MCP form writes the server into Codex's local config: a plugin made from it runs only on that computer, does not appear in a Work chat on the web, and cannot subscribe to Koma's events. A server added on the web is on your account and works in the desktop app too.

In Codex

Codex, in the terminal, the IDE or the ChatGPT desktop app, connects on its own, with two commands or the connect prompt from any agent:

bash
codex mcp add koma --url https://koma.ac/api-preview/mcp
codex mcp login koma

The login opens the browser for the sign-in.

How to use it

Once connected, talk to ChatGPT the way you already do. Koma is there whenever a task comes up:

  • "What's on my plate today?"
  • "Add "call the dentist" and "send the invoice", both for Friday."
  • "Save the plan we just made as a note."

Make Koma your to-do list

Koma works best as the one list behind everything: tell ChatGPT what you need to do and it lands in Koma; ask any agent, or Koma itself, what is next and it answers from the same list. Nothing lives only in one chat.

Send this once. ChatGPT makes Koma its to-do list, looks through your recent conversations for what is still open, and keeps Koma current as you work.

Koma is my to-do list from now on. Look through our recent conversations for anything I still need to do, show me the list, and after I confirm add it to Koma. From here on: add anything I mention needing to do to Koma, answer "what should I work on next" from Koma, and when something we discussed gets done or changes, update it in Koma.

What ChatGPT can do in Koma

  • Context. See where you are: what is due, your lists, recent notes, and what you asked Koma to remember.
  • Lists. Keep any list: your tasks, your notes, a reading list, a CRM, each with the properties you give it. Create one, reshape it, delete it.
  • Items. Add, update, move and delete what is on a list, many at once: a task with its due date, a note, a book on a reading list, each with a body to work in.
  • Search. Find anything you keep, by meaning or keyword.
  • Chats. Read the chat on an item, and leave a note there under its own name, so you see it on every device.
  • Trash. Nothing is lost on delete: the trash keeps it for about 30 days and puts it back.
  • Automations. Read your automations and what their runs found, and start one when you ask.

ChatGPT only ever acts as you, on your own workspace, and asks before anything changes.

Good to know

Ask for it by name ("@Koma, what's due today?") or just ask about your tasks. ChatGPT confirms before a tool changes anything; you can tell it to remember your choice for that tool for the rest of the conversation, and a new conversation asks again. ChatGPT remembers the sign-in for a server address, so an app removed and added again comes back on the same Koma account; to switch accounts, disconnect it first.

In Codex: The same entry serves the Codex CLI, the IDE extension and Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app (there: Settings, then MCP servers, then Add server, Streamable HTTP, the address, a restart of the app, then Authenticate). By hand it is [mcp_servers.koma] with url = "https://koma.ac/api-preview/mcp" in ~/.codex/config.toml. A standing line in ~/.codex/AGENTS.md, such as "use Koma for my tasks", holds across every project.

If the sign-in window does not open at all, some setups block it. Tell the app that it did not open; it gives you the link to open yourself.

Go deeper

The setup above is all most people need. The developer docs have the rest: every tool with what it takes and returns, guides for saving research, filling a list and running a worker loop, the standing orders to paste into a scheduled ChatGPT so it sweeps your mail, calendar and meeting notes into Koma on its own, the event feed and the REST API.
